Testing and Certification for AC Charging Stations (EVSE)
Testing under Cofrac accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025), CE marking, export markets...
The Emitech Group supports manufacturers, importers and distributors of AC charging stations for electric vehicles in their process of placing products on the market in Europe and worldwide. From residential wallboxes to multi-space charging totems, our COFRAC-accredited laboratories carry out all regulatory testing (electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radio frequency, environmental and mechanical) and coordinate your CE marking end-to-end in accordance with IEC 61851-1, IEC 61851-21-2 and IEC 61439-7.
AC Charging Stations We Test
We cover all AC Mode 3 charging station architectures:
- Single-phase wallboxes: 3.7 kW (16 A) and 7.4 kW (32 A) — residential, private homes
- Three-phase charging stations: 11 kW (16 A/phase) and 22 kW (32 A/phase) — businesses, car parks, apartment buildings, public areas
- Wall-mounted or free-standing (totem), indoor or outdoor
- Tethered cable or Type 2 socket (IEC 62196-2 connector)
- Charging stations with or without bidirectional operation (V2G, V2H, V2B, V2L)
- IC-CPD (Mode 2 charging cables, IEC 62752)
Our Services for Placing Your AC Charging Station on the Market
Complete Multi-Discipline CE Marking
We manage the entire regulatory process for your charging station:
- Analysis of applicable standards: identification of relevant directives (Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, RED 2014/53/EU) and harmonised standards
- Planning and coordination of multi-laboratory test campaigns
- Support in building the technical file (risk analysis, documentation, test reports)
- Tailored services adapted to your product, schedule and other constraints
Electrical Safety Testing (IEC 61851-1 / IEC 61439-7)
In accordance with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), our teams verify the following:
- Protection of the user and the building (dielectric strength, insulation)
- Validation of the pilot control function (Control Pilot / PWM)
- Dielectric strength and impulse voltage tests
- Continuity of the protective earth circuit
- Touch current and protection against residual currents (Type A differential, 6 mA DC detection)
- Temperature measurements (heating of connections and critical components)
- Analysis of technical documentation
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing
Our facilities cover all EMC standards applicable to EVSE connected to the public network:
- Conducted and radiated emissions
- Immunity to conducted and radiated disturbances
- Electrical tests: surge, fast transients...
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD)
Talk to Our Experts
Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU
- Testing on radio spectrum management and EMC compliance.
- Certification of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IoT, 5G, RFID equipment.
- Validation of RF performance and cybersecurity.
- Support from our Notified Body NB 0536.
Cybersecurity for Connected Charging Stations
Charging stations incorporating a wireless communication module — WiFi, Bluetooth, RFID, 4G/LTE — are subject to the cybersecurity requirements of the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30, applicable since August 2025). Our teams assess compliance with the EN 18031 standards across three areas:
- Network protection,
- User data protection,
- Resistance to unauthorised access.
Environmental and Mechanical Testing
Our laboratories carry out all the robustness tests required for equipment installed outdoors.
Environmental:
- IP protection rating (water and dust resistance)
- Damp heat resistance
- Functional cold test
Salt spray (corrosion resistance)
Mechanical:
- Impact resistance IK (impact protection rating up to IK10)
- Vibration
Our Dedicated Testing Resources for AC Charging Stations
- Electric vehicle simulator - Simulation of vehicle-side charging behaviour (Control Pilot, PP, charging currents)
- Active load with grid feedback - Real-load testing for charging stations up to 22 kW, compatible with V2G/bidirectional operation; consistent with our CSR commitments
- Single-phase and three-phase power supply - Coverage of 230 V / 400 V, 16 A / 32 A architectures
